Filipino Nannies & Housekeepers in Switzerland Map of Switzerland filled with the Swiss flag

Live-in domestic staff with Spanish nationality, under EU–Swiss free movement.

A Filipino nanny in Switzerland is a live-in domestic worker who holds Spanish nationality, so she can work for your family under the agreement on free movement between the EU and Switzerland. Mimucama Intermediación, SL is a domestic-staff agency based in Madrid, and we have been selecting domestic workers since 2010.

We are a placement agency authorised by the Spanish Public Employment Service (SEPE, no. 1300000335), with our office at Avda. Guadalix, 7, 28120 Santo Domingo, Madrid. The process is simple: you describe the post, we preselect candidates, you meet them by video and you decide.

The salary starts from €3,000 net per month in 12 payments, higher than in our other destinations because of the Swiss cost of living. Our fees are one month’s net salary plus Spanish VAT, and the guarantee lasts six months with one replacement at no extra fee. Each point is explained below.

Why Families Choose a Filipino Nanny in Switzerland

Two reasons come up again and again when families ask for a Filipino nanny in Switzerland: English and reputation. In a country with several official languages, many households speak English at home or want their children to grow up with it. Filipino domestic workers are also known worldwide for the care they bring to a household.

Until a few years ago, most of our clients abroad were Spanish families living outside Spain. Today the families who contact us are mostly German, French or Swiss, with no link to Spain, and they find us online. Families in Switzerland are among our clients.

Most of our candidates are Filipino and some have other nationalities. All of them hold Spanish nationality, which is what lets them work in Switzerland under the rules for EU citizens.

Spanish Nationality and the Right to Work in Switzerland

Switzerland is not in the European Union, but Spanish citizens can work there under the EU–Switzerland Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons. A Filipino nanny in Switzerland who holds Spanish nationality is treated as an EU citizen and does not need a work visa.

The paperwork depends on the length of the job, according to the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) in its FAQ for EU and EFTA citizens:

  • For work of up to three months, an online notification by the employer is enough.
  • For longer work, she needs an L permit (stays of less than 12 months) or a B permit, which EU citizens obtain.
  • She registers with the commune where she lives within 14 days of arriving.
  • She takes out Swiss health insurance within three months.

As the employer, you register her with the cantonal AHV/AVS compensation fund and take out accident insurance (UVG).

Filipino citizens can obtain Spanish nationality after two years of legal residence in Spain (article 22.1 of the Spanish Civil Code), and the candidates we present already have it. The general EU right to work abroad is explained on Your Europe.

The information about Swiss rules on this page is orientative. It does not replace the official source or the advice of your local adviser in Switzerland.

What a Filipino Nanny or Housekeeper Does in a Swiss Home

A live-in Filipino housekeeper does the work of any live-in domestic worker, and the mix of tasks depends on your household. Swiss homes vary a great deal, from a city flat to a large house with a garden, so we ask you to define the post before the search begins.

Tasks of a Live-In Filipino Nanny in Switzerland

  • Cleaning and ironing
  • Cooking
  • Childcare, when agreed
  • Caring for older people, when agreed

Some families want a nanny who focuses on the children, with school runs and homework help. Others need a housekeeper who also looks after an older relative. Both work, as long as the tasks are clear from the start.

What We Ask You to Define

Before the preselection we ask you for four things:

  • The number of people in the household
  • The size and layout of the home
  • The daily schedules of the family
  • The rest periods and days off of the worker

With these details we present candidates who fit your household. Also tell us which language region you live in and which languages the family speaks at home.

Agreeing the Working Conditions

A live-in post works best when everything is clear from day one. Before the start, we recommend that you and the candidate agree on the following points, which then go into the employment contract your adviser prepares:

  • The daily schedule and the hours of work
  • The weekly rest and the days off
  • The main tasks and the people she will look after
  • The salary, the currency and the payment date

These conditions also matter for the guarantee, as explained below. Your adviser will check that the contract follows Swiss rules, including any standard contract (NAV or CTT) for domestic work in your canton.

How to Hire a Filipino Nanny in Switzerland with Mimucama

We follow the same process as in Spain, with one difference. In Spain it ends with a face-to-face interview. For Switzerland that is not possible, so every interview is held by video, and for that reason our preselection is more thorough.

  1. You tell us the tasks and the profile you are looking for.
  2. We preselect candidates who fit that profile.
  3. You interview them by video.
  4. You choose the candidate you want to hire.
  5. You pay the first 50 % of the fees when the hiring agreement is reached.
  6. You send her the flight tickets.
  7. She starts, and you pay the remaining 50 % no later than the start day.

Nothing is charged for the search or the interviews. Fees accrue only when you reach a hiring agreement with one of the candidates we present.

What You Receive Before the Interview

Before each interview we send you the candidate’s profile sheet, with her age, experience and skills. It leaves out her surname and contact details, and we arrange the interviews ourselves.

On video you can see how she communicates, how she answers your questions and how she reacts to the routine of your household. We suggest that every adult who will live with her takes part.

Questions to Ask a Filipino Nanny in Switzerland in the Video Interview

A video interview is short, so prepare your questions in advance. Choose the ones that matter most to your household and listen to how she answers as much as to what she says. Questions that begin with “tell me about…” or “what would you do if…” give you more than questions with a yes-or-no answer.

Decide beforehand who asks what, so the call does not turn into an interrogation.

Experience with Children and Households

Ask for real situations rather than a repeat of her sheet.

  • Which ages have you worked with, and what did your last employer ask of you each day?
  • Tell me about a time a child was unwell at night. What did you do?
  • How do you handle a child who refuses to follow a rule when the parents are not at home?
  • In which situations did you ask the parents for guidance, and in which did you decide yourself?

A concrete story shows more than a general answer.

The Daily Routine, Tasks and Time Off

Describe an ordinary weekday in your home and check that she understands it.

  • Which part of this routine would you change, and what do you want to ask me?
  • How do you fit cleaning and ironing around the needs of the children?
  • If two tasks clash, for example a call from school while you are cooking, what comes first?
  • How would you like to spend your weekly rest and your days off?

Misunderstandings are easier to solve now than after the start. The guarantee expects you to respect what you agree on schedule, rest and tasks.

Languages, Mountains and Distance for a Filipino Nanny in Switzerland

Switzerland has four national languages, German, French, Italian and Romansh, and daily life changes from one region to another. She will also be far from her own family, so ask openly and leave room for honest answers.

  • Which languages do you speak, and how comfortable are you in English, Spanish and, if you know it, German, French or Italian?
  • Would you be willing to learn some of the local language, for example to talk to neighbours or teachers?
  • How do you feel about living in the mountains or in a small village, where distances are long and winters are cold?
  • How will you stay in touch with your family, and how do you feel about being far from them?
  • Prices in Switzerland are high. What do you expect to do in your free time, and what do you need in the home to feel comfortable?
  • What would make this a good year for you, and what would you like to ask us?

Leave time for her own questions, and compare impressions with the other adults in the household before you decide.

Salary: Net and in 12 Monthly Payments

We always agree the salary net and in 12 monthly payments. Spanish contracts usually speak of gross pay in 13 or 14 payments, a system few people outside Spain know, so a single net figure is easier for everyone.

The salary of a Filipino nanny in Switzerland starts from €3,000 net per month.

If you prefer to agree the salary in Swiss francs, our terms convert it into euros at the European Central Bank reference rate on the date of the hiring agreement.

What Net Means

Net is what she actually receives each month once social security contributions and taxes have been deducted. Your local payroll adviser (a Treuhänder or fiduciaire) works out the gross salary needed to reach that net figure under Swiss rules, since taxes differ by canton.

Switzerland’s Minimum Wage and Pay Floors

Switzerland has no national statutory minimum wage. The federal standard employment contract for domestic work (NAV Hauswirtschaft) sets minimum wages for staff in private households, and the Federal Council extended it to the end of 2028 and raised those wages by about 2 % from 1 January 2026, according to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

Some cantons also set their own minimum wage. Geneva, for example, sets CHF 24.59 gross per hour in 2026, according to the canton of Geneva. Your adviser checks which floor applies to the post.

Fees for a Filipino Nanny in Switzerland: One Month’s Net Salary

Our fees equal one month’s net salary on the 12-payment basis, plus Spanish VAT, currently 21 %. It is Spanish VAT even though the job is in Switzerland. With the starting salary, the calculation is:

  • Net salary: €3,000
  • Spanish VAT (21 %): €630
  • Total fees: €3,630

The total is paid in two equal parts: €1,815 when the hiring agreement is reached and €1,815 no later than the start day. There are no registration fees.

Flights are not part of the fees. You pay for her flight and, if you use the guarantee, for the replacement’s flight too. The full conditions are in our terms and conditions, which you accept before holding the interviews.

Six-Month Service Guarantee with One Replacement

Outside the Community of Madrid, our guarantee lasts six months from the start, with one replacement at no extra fee. That makes two starts in total, counting the first.

If your Filipino nanny in Switzerland leaves the post permanently, whether you end the relationship or she resigns, we select a new candidate with the same profile and do not charge fees again. Keep these points in mind:

  • You must notify us by email at info@mimucama.es within fifteen days of the departure.
  • The guarantee requires the fees to be paid in full and the agreed conditions to be respected: pay, working hours and social security registration.
  • There are no trial days. The protection is the guarantee.
  • If the job is later moved permanently to another place, the guarantee ends.
  • If the candidate does not start for reasons that are not your responsibility, we run a new selection at no extra cost.

You can read the exact wording in the terms and conditions.

What You Arrange in Switzerland as the Employer

Families in Switzerland We Work With

Families in Switzerland are among our clients, and you can hire a Filipino nanny in Switzerland wherever you live. Households in German-speaking Zurich, Zug and Basel, in French-speaking Geneva and Lausanne, and in Italian-speaking Lugano all follow the same process.

If you live in a mountain village or a small town, tell us. Daily life there differs from city life, and we take it into account when preselecting.

Families who also need a live-in worker in Madrid can read about the live-in domestic worker in Madrid (in Spanish). To learn more about the candidates we select, see our page on Filipino domestic staff (in Spanish).

We also select live-in Filipino nannies and housekeepers with Spanish nationality for families in these countries:

Frequently asked questions

Does a Filipino nanny in Switzerland need a visa or a permit?

She does not need a work visa, because she holds Spanish nationality and Spanish citizens can work in Switzerland under the EU–Switzerland Agreement. For jobs over three months she receives an L or B permit, which EU citizens obtain, and she registers with the commune within 14 days.

Who signs the contract and registers her for social insurance?

You do, with your local adviser, because you are the employer. Mimucama does not handle Swiss paperwork and does not advise on Swiss law.

How much does a Filipino nanny in Switzerland earn?

We agree the salary net and in 12 monthly payments, from €3,000 net per month. Net is what she receives each month after deductions; your adviser works out the gross salary for that figure.

How much are your fees?

One month’s net salary plus 21 % Spanish VAT: with €3,000 net, that is €3,630, paid in two halves of €1,815. The search and the interviews cost nothing.

What happens if my Filipino nanny in Switzerland leaves?

During the six months after the start, we select one replacement at no extra fee, provided the conditions of the guarantee are met. You pay the replacement’s flight. The details are in the terms and conditions.

Are there trial days?

No. We do not offer trial days. The protection is the six-month guarantee with one replacement.

Who pays for the flights?

You do. You send the flight tickets to the candidate, and you also pay for the replacement’s flight if you use the guarantee.

Can I hire a Filipino housekeeper instead of a nanny?

Yes. The tasks are the ones you define: cleaning, ironing, cooking and, when agreed, childcare or care of older people. The process, salary basis and guarantee are the same as for a nanny.
