Filipino Nannies & Housekeepers in the Netherlands
Live-in domestic staff with Spanish nationality. No work permit needed.
A Filipino nanny in the Netherlands who holds Spanish nationality can work for your family without a work permit, because she is a citizen of the European Union. Mimucama Intermediación, SL is a domestic-staff agency in Madrid that has selected domestic workers for families since 2010.
We are a placement agency authorised by the Spanish Public Employment Service (SEPE, no. 1300000335), and our office is at Avda. Guadalix, 7, 28120 Santo Domingo, Madrid. You tell us what you need, we preselect candidates, you meet them by video and you choose the one you want.
In short, the salary is agreed net and paid in 12 monthly payments, from €2,600 net per month. Our fees equal one month’s net salary plus Spanish VAT. The guarantee lasts six months from the start, with one replacement at no extra fee. Each point is explained below.
Why Families Choose a Filipino Nanny in the Netherlands
Many households in the Netherlands live between languages. Some families are international, others want their children to grow up with good English alongside Dutch. A Filipino nanny in the Netherlands brings English into the daily routine, at breakfast, on the school run and at bedtime. Families also mention the reputation that Filipino domestic workers enjoy worldwide for their work in the home.
Until a few years ago, our clients abroad were mainly Spanish families who lived outside Spain. Today most families who find us online are German, French or Swiss and have no connection with Spain. We also work with families in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
Our candidates are mostly Filipino domestic workers and, now and then, workers of other nationalities. All of them are Spanish citizens, and that removes the main obstacle for a family abroad: the work permit.
Spanish Nationality: No Work Permit Needed
Spanish nationality means EU citizenship, and EU citizens may work in any other member state, the Netherlands included, under the rules on free movement of workers. For that reason a Filipino nanny in the Netherlands with a Spanish passport needs no work permit and no sponsorship from your family. The official Your Europe page on working in another EU country explains these rights.
Under article 22.1 of the Spanish Civil Code, Filipino citizens can apply for Spanish nationality after two years of legal residence in Spain. The candidates we present to you have already obtained it.
One formality remains once she arrives. If she is going to stay in the Netherlands for more than four months, she must register in the municipal Personal Records Database (BRP) within five days, according to the Dutch government. The table further down gives the details.
The information about Dutch rules on this page is orientative. It does not replace the official source or the advice of your local adviser in the Netherlands.
What a Filipino Nanny or Housekeeper Does in Your Household
A live-in Filipino housekeeper covers the daily running of the home. The exact mix of tasks depends on your family, and we ask you to define it before the search begins, so that the candidates you meet really fit.
Tasks of a Live-In Filipino Nanny in the Netherlands
Cleaning and ironing
Cooking, including meals for children
Childcare, when agreed, including taking children to and from school
Caring for older people, when agreed
Some families want a nanny who concentrates on the children; others need a housekeeper who also helps with an older relative. Both profiles are possible, provided the tasks are clear from the start. In the Netherlands, where many children go to school on foot or by bike, it helps to describe the school run in detail.
What We Ask You to Define
Before the preselection, we ask you for four things:
How many people live in the household
The size of the home
The daily schedules, including school times
The rest periods of the worker
With those four answers we can present candidates who suit your household, and the video interview becomes the moment to confirm it.
Agreeing the Working Conditions
A live-in post runs smoothly when both sides know what to expect. Before she starts, we recommend that you and the candidate agree on the points below. They then go into the employment contract that your adviser prepares:
The daily schedule and the school run
The weekly rest and the days off
The main tasks and the people she will look after
The salary and the payment date
Holidays, and when she can travel to see her family
Respecting these conditions also matters for the guarantee, as explained below. Your adviser will check that the contract complies with Dutch employment rules, including the statutory minimum wage and holiday allowance.
How to Hire a Filipino Nanny in the Netherlands with Mimucama
We follow the same process as in Spain, with one difference. In Spain the last interview takes place face to face. For a family in the Netherlands that is not practical, so every interview is held by video, and for that reason our preselection is more thorough.
You tell us the tasks and the profile you are looking for.
We preselect candidates who fit that profile.
You interview them by video.
You choose the candidate you want to hire.
You pay the first 50 % of the fees when the hiring agreement is reached.
You send her the flight tickets.
She starts, and you pay the remaining 50 % no later than the start day.
Nothing is payable for the search or the interviews. Fees accrue only when you reach a hiring agreement with one of the candidates we have presented.
What You Receive Before the Interview
Before every interview you receive the candidate’s profile sheet, which shows her age, experience and skills. It does not include her surname or contact details, and we arrange the interviews ourselves, so you never need to chase anyone.
On video you can judge how she communicates, how she answers your questions and how she reacts when you describe your routine. We recommend that every adult in the household takes part in the call.
Questions to Ask a Filipino Nanny in the Netherlands in the Video Interview
Video interviews are brief, so prepare your questions in advance. When you interview a Filipino nanny in the Netherlands, listen to how she answers as much as to what she says. Open questions that start with “tell me about…” give you more than questions answered with yes or no.
Decide beforehand who asks what, so the call does not feel like an interrogation. If you would like help preparing it, tell us and we will go through your list with you.
Working with Children: What to Ask a Filipino Nanny in the Netherlands
Ask for real situations rather than a list of qualities.
Which age groups have you cared for, and what did each post teach you?
How did you handle a child who was ill, upset or refusing to eat or sleep?
How do you encourage a child to do homework or follow a bedtime routine?
How do you keep calm and apply the family’s rules when the parents are out?
What would a previous employer say about your work with their children?
Specific examples tell you more than general statements.
Routine, Tasks and Time Off
Describe a typical weekday in your home and see how she reacts.
What would you change in this routine, and what questions do you have?
Are you willing to cook our family’s recipes, and how do you learn a new dish?
How do you organise cleaning and ironing around the children’s timetable?
What would you do if two things needed you at once, such as a crying child and a pan on the stove?
How do you understand weekly rest and days off, and how would you like to spend them?
This is the moment to clear up misunderstandings. What you agree on schedule, rest and tasks is also what the guarantee expects you to respect.
Life in the Netherlands: Language, Bikes and Weather
Moving to another country to work for a family is a big step, and the Netherlands has its own habits. English is widely spoken there, so she will manage daily life with it, but Dutch helps with neighbours, teachers and shops. Ask openly and give her room to be honest.
Have you lived or worked abroad before, and how did you adapt?
How comfortable are you in English, Spanish and, if needed, in learning some Dutch?
How do you feel about getting around by bike, tram or on foot in all weathers, sometimes with children?
If the children attend an international school, are you comfortable speaking with teachers and other parents in English?
How will you stay in touch with your family, and how do you feel about being far from them?
How do you feel about the grey, rainy winters and short days?
Leave time for her own questions and take notes during the call. Afterwards, compare impressions with the other adults in the household before deciding.
Salary: Net and in 12 Monthly Payments
The salary of a Filipino nanny in the Netherlands is agreed net and in 12 monthly payments. In Spain, pay is normally discussed gross and spread over 13 or 14 payments, a system few people elsewhere in Europe know. One net figure is clear to everyone.
The salary starts from €2,600 net per month.
What Net Means
Net is the amount she actually receives each month once social security contributions and taxes have been deducted. Your local payroll adviser or accountant calculates the gross salary that produces that net figure under Dutch rules. Because the result depends on Dutch law, it should be done by someone who knows it.
The Dutch Minimum Wage
The statutory minimum wage in the Netherlands is €14.99 gross per hour from 1 July 2026, plus 8 % holiday allowance, according to the Dutch government. The amount is adjusted every January and July, so the figure is orientative. It is a floor, not a target, and your adviser checks that the agreed pay respects it for the hours worked.
Fees for a Filipino Nanny in the Netherlands: One Month’s Net Salary
Our fees equal one month’s net salary, calculated on the 12-payment basis, plus Spanish VAT, currently 21 %. The VAT is Spanish even when the job is in the Netherlands. With the starting salary, the calculation is:
Net salary: €2,600
Spanish VAT (21 %): €546
Total fees: €3,146
The total is paid in two equal parts: €1,573 when the hiring agreement is reached and €1,573 no later than the start day. There are no registration fees.
The fees do not include the flights. You pay her flight, and also the flight of a replacement if you use the guarantee. All the conditions are in our terms and conditions, which you accept before the interviews.
Six-Month Service Guarantee with One Replacement
Outside the Community of Madrid, the guarantee covers the six months after the start and includes one replacement at no extra fee. In practice that means two starts, counting the first.
If your Filipino nanny in the Netherlands leaves the job for good, whether you end the contract or she resigns, we select a new candidate with the same profile and do not charge fees again. Please keep these points in mind:
You must notify us by email at info@mimucama.es within fifteen days of the departure.
The guarantee requires the fees to be paid in full and the agreed conditions to be respected: pay, working hours and registration with social security.
There are no trial days. The protection is the guarantee.
If the job is later moved permanently to another place, the guarantee ends.
If the candidate does not start for reasons that are not your responsibility, we run a new selection at no extra cost.
What You Arrange in the Netherlands as the Employer
You are the employer. You sign the employment contract and, with your local adviser, register her for social security in the Netherlands. Mimucama does not handle that paperwork and does not advise on Dutch law. Our part is to present candidates with the right nationality and to state the salary, the fees and the guarantee clearly before you choose.
The table summarises the main points when you hire a Filipino nanny in the Netherlands. It is orientative: the rules can change, so check the official source.
What you arrange
What it means
Official source
Municipal registration (BRP)
She must register in the municipal Personal Records Database within five days of arriving if she will stay more than four months.
The simplified household services scheme only applies to work of up to three days a week. For a live-in job you register as an employer with the Belastingdienst, the Dutch tax authority.
Your adviser turns the agreed net salary into the gross salary and runs the payroll.
Your local adviser
Ask your adviser to explain the registration with the Belastingdienst and the payroll steps. Mimucama does not take part in them.
Families in the Netherlands We Work With
You can hire a Filipino nanny in the Netherlands wherever your family lives. Families in Amsterdam, The Hague, Wassenaar, Rotterdam, Utrecht and the rest of the country follow the same process. Distance is not a problem, because the interviews are held by video and you send the flight tickets.
Does a Filipino nanny in the Netherlands need a work permit?
No. Every candidate holds Spanish nationality, so she works in the Netherlands as an EU citizen, with no permit. For a stay of more than four months she registers in the municipal Personal Records Database (BRP) within five days.
Who signs the contract and registers her for social security?
The family does, with its local adviser, because the family is the employer. Mimucama does not handle Dutch paperwork or advise on Dutch law.
How much does a Filipino nanny in the Netherlands earn?
The salary is agreed net, in 12 monthly payments, from €2,600 net per month. Net is what she receives each month after deductions, and your adviser works out the gross salary for that figure.
How much are your fees?
One month’s net salary plus 21 % Spanish VAT. With €2,600 net, that is €3,146, paid in two halves: the first when the hiring agreement is reached and the second no later than the start day.
What happens if she leaves?
During the six months after the start, we select one replacement at no extra fee, provided the conditions of the guarantee are met. You pay the replacement’s flight. Details are in the terms and conditions.
Are there trial days?
No. We do not offer trial days. The protection is the six-month guarantee with one replacement.
Who pays for the flights?
You do. You send the flight tickets to the candidate, and you also pay the flight of a replacement if you use the guarantee.
Can I hire a Filipino housekeeper instead of a nanny?
Yes. The tasks are the ones you define: cleaning, ironing, cooking and, when agreed, childcare or caring for older people. A housekeeper follows the same process, salary basis and guarantee.
