A Filipino nanny in Austria who holds Spanish nationality is an EU citizen, so she can live and work with your family without a work permit. Mimucama Intermediación, SL is a domestic-staff agency based in Madrid that has been selecting domestic workers since 2010.

We are a placement agency authorised by the Spanish Public Employment Service (SEPE, no. 1300000335), with our office at Avda. Guadalix, 7, 28120 Santo Domingo, Madrid. You describe the household and the tasks, we preselect candidates, you interview them by video and you make the final choice.

The salary is agreed net, in 12 monthly payments, and starts from €2,600 net per month. Our fees equal one month’s net salary plus Spanish VAT, and the guarantee lasts six months from the start, with one replacement at no extra fee. Each point is explained below.

Why Families Choose a Filipino Nanny in Austria

Families usually give two reasons for choosing a Filipino nanny in Austria: the English she speaks and the reputation of Filipino domestic workers. Many households want English spoken naturally at home, whether for the children or because the family is international. Filipino domestic workers are also known worldwide for the care they bring to a home.

In the past, most of our clients abroad were Spanish families living outside Spain. That has changed. Today most of the families who contact us are German, French or Swiss and have no link to Spain; they find us online. We work with families in Austria as well, and the process is the same wherever you live.

Our candidates are mostly Filipino domestic workers and, sometimes, workers of other nationalities. All of them hold Spanish nationality, which is what makes the difference for an Austrian household: no permit and no waiting for a work authorisation.

Spanish Nationality: No Work Permit Needed in Austria

A Spanish citizen is a citizen of the European Union, and EU law gives EU citizens the right to take up work in another member state without a work permit. A Filipino nanny in Austria with Spanish nationality is covered by that right. The official Your Europe page on working in another EU country sets out these rights.

Filipino citizens can obtain Spanish nationality after two years of legal residence in Spain, as set out in article 22.1 of the Spanish Civil Code. The candidates we present to you already have it granted.

Two formalities apply once she arrives. She registers her address (the Meldezettel) within three days of moving in, according to oesterreich.gv.at. If she stays longer than three months, she applies in person for a registration certificate (Anmeldebescheinigung) at the local residence authority; the official portal says the stay must be reported within four months of arrival. Your adviser can explain both steps.

The information about Austrian rules on this page is orientative. It does not replace the official source or the advice of your local adviser in Austria.

What a Filipino Nanny or Housekeeper Does in Your Home

A Filipino housekeeper who lives in your home does the work of any live-in domestic worker. The mix of tasks depends on your household, and we ask you to define it before the search begins.

Tasks of a Live-In Filipino Nanny in Austria

  • Cleaning and ironing
  • Cooking
  • Childcare, when agreed
  • Caring for older people, when agreed

Some families want a nanny who concentrates on the children. Others need a housekeeper who also helps an older relative. Both work, as long as the tasks are clear from the first day.

What We Ask You to Define

Before the preselection we ask you for four things:

  • How many people live in the household
  • The size of the home
  • The daily schedules
  • The rest periods of the worker

With those details we present candidates who fit your household, and the video interview is the moment to check it.

Agreeing the Working Conditions

A live-in post works best when everything is clear from day one. Before the start we recommend that you and the candidate agree on the points below, which then go into the employment contract your adviser prepares:

  • The daily schedule
  • The weekly rest and the days off
  • The main tasks and the people she will look after
  • The salary and the payment date

These conditions also matter for the guarantee, as explained further down. Your adviser will check that the contract complies with Austrian employment rules, including the minimum pay tariff described below.

How to Hire a Filipino Nanny in Austria with Mimucama

The process is the one we follow in Spain, with a single difference. In Spain it ends with a face-to-face interview. For Austria that is not possible, so every interview takes place by video, and our preselection is therefore more thorough.

  1. You tell us the tasks and the profile you are looking for.
  2. We preselect candidates who fit that profile.
  3. You interview them by video.
  4. You choose the candidate you want to hire.
  5. You pay the first 50 % of the fees when the hiring agreement is reached.
  6. You send her the flight tickets.
  7. She starts, and you pay the remaining 50 % no later than the start day.

You pay nothing for the search or the interviews. Fees only accrue once you reach a hiring agreement with one of the candidates we present.

What You Receive Before the Interview

Before each interview we send you the candidate’s profile sheet, with her age, experience and skills. It leaves out her surname and contact details, and we arrange the interviews ourselves.

A video call shows you how she communicates, how she answers and how she reacts to the routine of your home. We recommend that every adult who will live with her takes part.

Questions to Ask a Filipino Nanny in Austria in the Video Interview

The video interview with a Filipino nanny in Austria lasts a limited time, so prepare your questions beforehand. Choose those that matter most for your household, and pay attention to how she answers as well as to what she says. Questions that begin with “tell me about…” give you more than questions with a yes or no answer.

Decide in advance who asks what, so the call does not feel like an interrogation. If you want help preparing it, tell us and we will go through your list with you.

Experience with Children and the Elderly

Look for real situations rather than what the sheet already says.

  • Which ages have you cared for, and what was your longest post?
  • Walk me through a normal day with the children, from waking up to bedtime.
  • Tell me about a time a child was ill in the night. What did you do first?
  • How do you handle a child who refuses to follow a rule when the parents are out?
  • Have you looked after an older person? What did the care involve?
  • What would your last family say about you?

Routine, Tasks and Rest

Describe a typical weekday in your home, then check that she has understood it and see how she reacts.

  • What would you like to ask about this routine, and is anything unclear?
  • Which tasks do you enjoy, and which do you find hardest?
  • How comfortable are you cooking for a family, and would you learn our recipes?
  • How would you organise ironing and cleaning around the children’s timetable?
  • What would you do if two things needed you at once, such as dinner on the stove and a crying baby?
  • How do you understand weekly rest and days off, and how would you like to spend them?

Settle misunderstandings now. Whatever you agree on schedule, rest and tasks is also what the guarantee expects you to respect.

Life as a Filipino Nanny in Austria: Language, Winters and Distance

Austria means German in daily life, cold winters and, outside the cities, villages that can be far from shops and public transport. Ask openly and give her room to be honest.

  • Have you lived or worked abroad before, and how did you settle in?
  • Our household speaks German, English or both. How would you feel about learning some German?
  • Winters here are cold. Have you lived through a cold season, and how did you cope?
  • If our home is in a village or a mountain area, far from town, how would you feel about a quieter life?
  • How will you keep in touch with your family, and how do you feel about being far from them?
  • What do you expect from this post, and what would make it a good year for you?
  • What would you like to ask us?

Leave time for her questions and take notes.

Salary: Net and in 12 Monthly Payments

We agree the salary net and in 12 monthly payments. Spanish contracts often speak of gross pay in 13 or 14 payments, a system that is unfamiliar elsewhere in Europe. A single net monthly figure is easy for the family and the worker to understand.

The salary starts from €2,600 net per month.

What Net Means

Net is what she actually receives each month, after social security contributions and taxes have been deducted. Your local payroll adviser (a Steuerberater or a payroll service) works out the gross salary needed to reach that net figure under Austrian rules. The calculation depends on Austrian law, so it should be done by someone who knows it.

Pay Floor in Austria: the Minimum Wage Tariff

Austria has no single statutory national minimum wage. Minimum pay comes from collective agreements and, where none applies, from minimum wage tariffs issued by the Bundeseinigungsamt, a federal body. The social affairs ministry explains the system on its page on minimum wage tariffs.

For domestic workers, the relevant text is the minimum wage tariff for people employed in households (Mindestlohntarif für im Haushalt Beschäftigte), which applies across Austria. The current one, published in the Federal Law Gazette (BGBl. II No. 279/2025), took effect on 1 January 2026. It sets minimum pay by wage group and is normally updated each year, so your adviser should check the version in force on the start date.

We do not quote its figures here because they vary by wage group and are updated regularly. It is a floor, not a target, and your adviser checks that the agreed pay respects it.

Fees for a Filipino Nanny in Austria: One Month’s Net Salary

Our fees are one month’s net salary, calculated on the 12-payment basis, plus Spanish VAT, which is 21 % today. It is Spanish VAT even though the job is in Austria. With the starting salary, the calculation is:

  • Net salary: €2,600
  • Spanish VAT (21 %): €546
  • Total fees: €3,146

The total is paid in two equal parts: €1,573 when the hiring agreement is reached and €1,573 no later than the start day. There are no registration fees.

The fees do not include flights. You pay her flight and, if you use the guarantee, the flight of a replacement. Every condition is in our terms and conditions, which you accept before the interviews.

Six-Month Service Guarantee with One Replacement

Outside the Community of Madrid, our guarantee lasts six months from the start, with one replacement at no extra fee. That makes two starts in total, counting the first one.

If your Filipino nanny in Austria leaves the post permanently, whether you end the relationship or she resigns, we select a new candidate with the same profile without charging fees again. Keep these points in mind:

  • You must notify us by email at info@mimucama.es within fifteen days of the departure.
  • The guarantee requires the fees to be paid in full and the agreed conditions to be respected: pay, working hours and registration with social security.
  • There are no trial days. The protection is the guarantee.
  • If the job is later moved permanently to another place, the guarantee ends.
  • If the candidate does not start for reasons that are not your responsibility, we run a new selection at no extra cost.

You can read the exact wording in the terms and conditions.

What You Arrange in Austria as the Employer

You are the employer. You sign the employment contract and register her for social security in Austria with your local adviser. Mimucama does not handle Austrian paperwork and does not advise on Austrian law. What we do is present candidates with the right nationality and tell you clearly the salary, the fees and the guarantee before you choose.

The table summarises the main points when you hire a Filipino nanny in Austria. It is orientative, and rules change, so check the official source.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Filipino nanny in Austria need a work permit?

No. All our candidates hold Spanish nationality, so as EU citizens they can work in Austria without a work permit. She does have to register her address (Meldezettel) within three days of moving in.

Who signs the contract and registers her for social security?

You do, with your local adviser, because you are the employer. In Austria, the registration with the ÖGK is made electronically before she starts work. Mimucama does not handle Austrian paperwork and does not advise on Austrian law.

How much does a Filipino nanny in Austria earn?

We agree the salary net and in 12 monthly payments, from €2,600 net per month. Net is what she receives each month after deductions. Your adviser works out the gross salary for that net figure and checks it against the minimum wage tariff.

How much are your fees?

One month’s net salary plus 21 % Spanish VAT. With €2,600 net, that is €3,146, paid in two halves: the first when the hiring agreement is reached and the second no later than the start day. The search and the interviews cost nothing.

What happens if she leaves?

During the six months after the start, we select one replacement at no extra fee, provided the conditions of the guarantee are met. You pay the replacement’s flight. The details are in the terms and conditions.

Are there trial days?

No. We do not offer trial days. The protection is the six-month guarantee with one replacement.

Who pays for the flights?

You do. You send the flight tickets to the candidate, and you also pay the flight of a replacement if you use the guarantee.

Can I hire a Filipino housekeeper instead of a nanny?

Yes. The tasks are the ones you define: cleaning, ironing, cooking and, when agreed, childcare or caring for older people. A housekeeper follows the same process, salary basis and guarantee as a nanny.
