Live-in domestic staff with Spanish nationality. No work permit needed.
A Filipino nanny in Belgium can be a live-in worker for your family without any work permit, because the candidates we present hold Spanish nationality. Mimucama Intermediación, SL is a domestic-staff agency based in Madrid, and we have selected domestic workers since 2010.
We are a placement agency authorised by the Spanish Public Employment Service (SEPE, no. 1300000335), with our office at Avda. Guadalix, 7, 28120 Santo Domingo, Madrid. Families in Belgium tell us what they need, we preselect candidates, and they choose after interviewing them by video.
The essentials: the salary is agreed net, in 12 monthly payments, starting from €2,600 net per month. Our fees equal one month’s net salary plus Spanish VAT, and the service guarantee covers six months from the start with one replacement at no extra fee. Each point is explained below.
Why Families Choose a Filipino Nanny in Belgium
Two reasons come up again and again when a family decides on a Filipino nanny in Belgium: English and reputation. Many households want the children to hear English at home every day, and many are international families for whom English is the common language. Filipino domestic workers are also known worldwide for the care they put into a home.
Belgium is a country of three official languages, French, Dutch and German, and Brussels is home to the European institutions, NATO and many international companies. Families in that setting often speak several languages and welcome a worker who can add English to the mix. Which language the children hear from her is your decision, and the video interview is the moment to test it.
Until recently most of our clients abroad were Spanish families living outside Spain. Today the families who write to us are mostly German, French or Swiss, with no link to Spain, and they find us online. We have also had a client in Belgium.
Our candidates are mostly Filipino domestic workers and, sometimes, workers of other nationalities. All of them hold Spanish nationality, which is what spares you the work permit.
Spanish Nationality: No Work Permit in Belgium
Spanish citizens are citizens of the European Union. For that reason, a Filipino nanny in Belgium with Spanish nationality does not need a work permit: EU rules on the free movement of workers let her take a job in any member state. The official Your Europe page on working in another EU country sets out these rights.
Filipino citizens can obtain Spanish nationality after two years of legal residence in Spain, under article 22.1 of the Spanish Civil Code. The candidates we present already have it granted.
Her only local formality is registering with the commune where she lives, within three months of arriving. The document issued for EU citizens is called Annex 19.
The information about Belgian rules on this page is orientative. It does not replace the official source or the advice of your local adviser in Belgium.
What a Live-In Filipino Housekeeper or Nanny Does
A live-in worker does the same kind of work wherever the home is. What changes from one household to another is the mix of tasks, so we ask you to define it before the search begins.
Tasks of a Live-In Filipino Nanny in Belgium
Cleaning, laundry and ironing
Cooking for the family
Childcare, including school runs, when agreed
Caring for an older relative, when agreed
Some families look for a nanny centred on the children. Others need a housekeeper who also helps an older relative. Both profiles are possible, provided the tasks are clear from the first conversation.
What We Ask You to Define
Before the preselection we ask for four things:
How many people live in the household
The size of the home
The daily schedules
The rest periods of the worker
With those details we present candidates who fit your household, and the video interview confirms it.
Agreeing the Working Conditions
Before the start, we recommend that you and the candidate agree on the points below. They then go into the employment contract that your adviser prepares:
The daily schedule
The weekly rest and the days off
The main tasks and the people she will look after
The salary and the payment date
These points also matter for the guarantee, as explained below. Your adviser checks that the contract complies with Belgian employment rules.
How to Hire a Filipino Nanny in Belgium with Mimucama
The process is the one we follow in Spain, with a single difference. In Spain it ends with a face-to-face interview; for Belgium that is not possible, so every interview is held by video. For that reason our preselection is more thorough.
You tell us the tasks and the profile you are looking for.
We preselect candidates who fit that profile.
You interview them by video.
You choose the candidate you want to hire.
You pay the first 50 % of the fees when the hiring agreement is reached.
You send her the flight tickets.
She starts, and you pay the remaining 50 % no later than the start day.
You pay nothing for the search or the interviews. Fees accrue only when you reach a hiring agreement with one of the candidates we present.
What You Receive Before the Interview
Before each interview we send you the candidate’s profile sheet, with her age, experience and skills. The sheet does not include her surname or contact details; we arrange the interviews ourselves.
A video call shows how she communicates, how she answers your questions and how she reacts to the rhythm of your household. We recommend that every adult who will live with her joins the call.
Questions to Ask a Filipino Nanny in Belgium in the Video Interview
The video interview with a Filipino nanny in Belgium is short, so prepare your questions beforehand. Choose those that matter most to your household and listen to how she answers as much as to what she says.
Agree in advance who asks what, so the call does not feel like an interrogation.
Experience with Children and Families
Ask about real situations, not only what her sheet says.
Which age groups have you cared for, and what did your day look like with each one?
How do you handle bedtime, homework or a child who will not cooperate?
Have you worked for a family with more than one language at home? How did that go?
What do you do if a child is unwell and the parents cannot be reached?
Specific examples tell you more than general statements.
Routine, Tasks and Time Off
Describe an ordinary weekday in your home and check that she understands it.
Which tasks do you like doing best, and which do you find most tiring?
What dishes do you cook, and would you learn the family’s recipes?
How do you plan the cleaning and ironing around the children’s timetable?
How do you handle visitors and a busy home, where privacy and discretion matter?
How do you understand weekly rest and days off, and how would you like to spend them?
What would you do if two tasks clashed, such as a child’s fever while dinner is on the stove?
This is the time to settle any doubt. What you agree here on schedule, rest and tasks is what the guarantee later expects you to respect.
Living in Belgium: Languages, Weather and Distance
Moving to another country to live in a family’s home is a big step. A Filipino nanny in Belgium will be far from her own family and will meet a new climate, new languages and a new routine, so ask openly and leave her room to be honest.
Have you lived or worked abroad before, and how did you settle in?
Which languages do you speak, and would you be willing to learn some French or Dutch?
Which language will you use with the children and which with the adults?
Winters in Belgium are often dark and damp. How do you feel about that?
How will you stay in touch with your family, and how do you feel about being far from them?
What would make this a good year for you, and what would you like to ask us?
Leave time for her own questions and write down your impressions during the call. Afterwards, compare notes with the other adults in the household before you decide.
Salary: Net and in 12 Monthly Payments
We agree the salary net, paid in 12 monthly payments. Spanish contracts are usually discussed in gross terms and in 13 or 14 payments, a convention few people elsewhere in Europe know. One net figure is clear for the family and for the worker.
Starting salary: from €2,600 net per month, in 12 payments.
What Net Means
Net is what she actually receives each month once the social security contributions and taxes have been deducted. Your local payroll adviser, for example a social secretariat (secrétariat social or sociaal secretariaat), works out the gross salary that produces that net figure under Belgian rules. The calculation depends on Belgian law, so it is done by someone who knows it.
The Belgian Pay Floor
Belgium has a legal pay floor, and the National Labour Council publishes the amounts in a table. The 2026 table lists a national minimum of €2,233.61 gross per month from 1 July 2026 for workers aged 18 and over. Domestic workers employed by a household fall under joint committee 323, whose 2026 pay scales are higher: for a 38-hour week with no experience, €2,260.15 for cleaning, €2,325.26 for housework and €2,398.31 for childcare, gross per month, rising with experience. Treat these figures as orientative: the exact amount for a live-in post depends on her duties and experience, so settle it with your adviser.
A floor is not a target. Your adviser checks that the agreed pay respects it for the hours worked.
Fees for a Filipino Nanny in Belgium: One Month’s Net Salary
Our fees equal one month’s net salary on the 12-payment basis, plus Spanish VAT, currently 21 %. Spanish VAT applies even when the job is in Belgium. With the starting salary the calculation is:
Net salary: €2,600
Spanish VAT (21 %): €546
Total fees: €3,146
The total is paid in two equal parts: €1,573 when the hiring agreement is reached and €1,573 no later than the start day. There are no registration fees.
The fees do not cover flights. You pay her flight, and also the flight of a replacement if you use the guarantee. All the conditions are in our terms and conditions, which you accept before the interviews.
Six-Month Service Guarantee with One Replacement
Outside the Community of Madrid our guarantee lasts six months from the start, with one replacement at no extra fee. That makes two starts in total, counting the first.
If your Filipino nanny in Belgium leaves the post permanently, whether you end the relationship or she resigns, we select a new candidate with the same profile and do not charge fees again. Please keep these points in mind:
You must notify us by email at info@mimucama.es within fifteen days of the departure.
The guarantee requires the fees to be paid in full and the agreed conditions to be respected: pay, working hours and registration with social security.
There are no trial days. The protection is the guarantee.
If the job is later moved permanently to another place, the guarantee ends.
If the candidate does not start for reasons that are not your responsibility, we run a new selection at no extra cost.
You are the employer, so you sign the employment contract and register her with Belgian social security through your local adviser. Mimucama does not handle that paperwork and does not advise on Belgian law. Our part is to present candidates with the right nationality and to set out the salary, the fees and the guarantee before you choose.
The table summarises the main points when you hire a Filipino nanny in Belgium. It is orientative, because rules can change; check the official source before you act.
What you arrange
What it means
Official source
Municipal registration (Annex 19)
She registers with the commune where she lives within three months of arriving.
National minimum of €2,233.61 gross per month from 1 July 2026; joint committee 323 (domestic workers) sets €2,260.15 to €2,398.31 for a 38-hour week with no experience.
Your adviser turns the agreed net salary into the gross salary and runs the payroll.
Your adviser or social secretariat
Ask your adviser to explain the Dimona and DmfA declarations and the accident insurance. Mimucama does not take part in them.
Families in Belgium We Work With
You can hire a Filipino nanny in Belgium wherever your family lives. We have worked with a client in Belgium, and families in Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Waterloo, Uccle or any other town follow the same process. Distance is not an obstacle, because the interviews are held by video and you send her the flight tickets.
Many households in Brussels are international, and some employers work for the European institutions or international organisations. Whatever your situation, the selection starts from the tasks, the schedule and the languages you need.
Does a Filipino nanny in Belgium need a work permit?
No. All our candidates hold Spanish nationality, so as EU citizens they can work in Belgium without a work permit. She does have to register with her commune, using the Annex 19 procedure, within three months of arriving.
Who signs the contract and registers her for social security?
You do, with your local adviser, because you are the employer. In Belgium that means the Dimona and DmfA declarations to the ONSS and a compulsory workplace accident insurance. Mimucama does not handle that paperwork and does not advise on Belgian law.
How much does a Filipino nanny in Belgium earn?
We agree the salary net and in 12 monthly payments, from €2,600 net per month. Net is what she receives each month after deductions, and your adviser works out the matching gross salary.
How much are your fees?
One month’s net salary plus 21 % Spanish VAT. With €2,600 net, that is €3,146, paid in two halves: the first when the hiring agreement is reached and the second no later than the start day. The search and the interviews cost nothing.
What happens if she leaves?
During the six months after the start, we select one replacement at no extra fee, provided the guarantee conditions are met. You pay the replacement’s flight. The details are in the terms and conditions.
Are there trial days?
No. We do not offer trial days. The protection is the six-month guarantee with one replacement.
Who pays for the flights?
You do. You send the flight tickets to the candidate, and you also pay for a replacement’s flight if you use the guarantee.
Can I hire a Filipino housekeeper instead of a nanny?
Yes. The tasks are the ones you define: cleaning, ironing, cooking and, when agreed, childcare or caring for older people. A housekeeper follows the same process, salary basis and guarantee as a nanny.
