Live-in domestic staff with Spanish nationality. No work permit needed.
A Filipino nanny in Luxembourg is a live-in domestic worker with Spanish nationality, which means she can work for your family without a work permit. Mimucama Intermediación, SL is a domestic-staff agency in Madrid, and we have selected domestic workers for families since 2010.
We are a placement agency authorised by the Spanish Public Employment Service (SEPE, no. 1300000335), and our office is at Avda. Guadalix, 7, 28120 Santo Domingo, Madrid. The method is simple: you tell us what you need, we preselect candidates, you interview them by video and you decide.
The salary is agreed net, in 12 monthly payments, from €2,600 net per month. Our fees are one month’s net salary plus Spanish VAT, and the guarantee covers six months from the start with one replacement at no extra fee. Each point is explained in detail below.
Why Families Choose a Filipino Nanny in Luxembourg
Luxembourg is a small country with a very international population, and many households speak several languages at home. A Filipino nanny in Luxembourg brings English that she uses naturally, which suits families who want their children to grow up with one more language.
Filipino domestic workers also have a worldwide reputation for their work in the home.
Until a few years ago, our clients abroad were mostly Spanish families living outside Spain. Now most of the families who write to us are German, French or Swiss, with no link to Spain, and they find us online. Families in Luxembourg can do the same.
Our candidates are mostly Filipino domestic workers and, sometimes, workers of other nationalities. All of them hold Spanish nationality, and that is the point that changes everything for a family abroad.
A Filipino Nanny in Luxembourg with Spanish Nationality: No Work Permit
A Spanish citizen is also a citizen of the European Union, and EU rules on the free movement of workers allow her to take a job in another member state without a work permit. The official Your Europe page on working in another EU country sets out these rights. Luxembourg is a member state, so a Filipino nanny in Luxembourg who holds Spanish nationality needs no work permit.
In practice she has two small formalities. She must declare her arrival to the commune (the local town hall) within 8 days and register before three months have passed. The Guichet.lu page on residence for EU citizens explains both steps. Your adviser can tell you how to help her with them.
Under article 22.1 of the Spanish Civil Code, Filipino citizens can obtain Spanish nationality after two years of legal residence in Spain. Every candidate we present has already been granted it.
The information about Luxembourg rules on this page is orientative. It does not replace the official source or the advice of your local adviser in Luxembourg.
What a Filipino Nanny or Housekeeper Does in Your Home
A live-in Filipino housekeeper does the same work as any live-in domestic worker. The exact mix depends on your household, and we ask you to define it before the search begins. In a household with two working parents and busy days, clear tasks matter even more.
Tasks of a Live-In Filipino Nanny in Luxembourg
Cleaning and ironing
Cooking
Childcare, when agreed
Caring for older people, when agreed
Some families want a nanny who concentrates on the children. Others need a housekeeper who also helps an older relative. Both are possible, provided the tasks are clear from the beginning.
What We Ask You to Define
Before the preselection, we ask you for five things:
How many people live in the household
The size of the home
The daily schedules
The rest periods of the worker
The languages spoken at home
The video interview is then the moment to check the match.
Agreeing the Working Conditions
Live-in work goes well when both sides know what to expect from the first day. Before the start, we recommend that you and the candidate agree on the points below. They then go into the written employment contract that your adviser prepares, since Luxembourg requires a written contract.
The daily schedule
The weekly rest and the days off
The main tasks and the people she will look after
The salary and the payment date
Respecting these conditions also matters for the guarantee, as explained below. Your adviser will check that the contract complies with Luxembourg employment rules.
How to Hire a Filipino Nanny in Luxembourg with Mimucama
The process is the one we follow in Spain, with one difference. In Spain it ends with a face-to-face interview, which is not possible for Luxembourg, so every interview is held by video. For that reason our preselection is more thorough.
You tell us the tasks and the profile you are looking for.
We preselect candidates who fit that profile.
You interview them by video.
You choose the candidate you want to hire.
You pay the first 50 % of the fees when the hiring agreement is reached.
You send her the flight tickets.
She starts, and you pay the remaining 50 % no later than the start day.
You pay nothing for the search or for the interviews. Fees only accrue once you reach a hiring agreement with one of the candidates we present.
What You Receive Before the Interview
Before each interview we send you the candidate’s profile sheet, with her age, experience and skills. The sheet leaves out her surname and contact details, and we arrange the interviews ourselves.
A video call shows you how she communicates, how she answers your questions and how she reacts to the routine of your household. We recommend that every adult who will live with her takes part. Spain and Luxembourg share the same time zone, so finding a slot is easy.
Questions to Ask a Filipino Nanny in Luxembourg in the Video Interview
A video interview with a Filipino nanny in Luxembourg lasts a short time, so prepare your questions beforehand. Choose those that matter most for your household, and pay attention to how she answers as well as to what she says.
Decide in advance who asks what, so that the call feels like a conversation. If you want help preparing it, tell us and we will go through your list with you.
Experience and References with Children
Look for concrete episodes rather than general statements.
Which ages have you looked after, and what did a normal day with them involve?
Tell me about a time a child was unwell or upset when you were alone with them. What did you do?
Have you helped children who study in a language you do not speak? How did you support them?
Which of your former employers would speak well of your work, and what would they say?
Daily Routine, Tasks and Rest
Describe a normal weekday in your home and check that she understands it. A live-in post works only when both sides picture the same day.
How comfortable are you cooking for a family, and would you learn our recipes or the dishes our children like?
What would you do if two things needed you at once, such as a child’s fever and a meal on the stove?
What does a good weekly rest look like for you, and how would you like to spend your days off?
Use the call to clear up doubts now. The schedule, rest and tasks you agree are the same ones the guarantee expects you to respect.
Questions for a Filipino Nanny in Luxembourg About Languages and Distance
Luxembourg has three official languages, Luxembourgish, French and German, and English is common in international households. Moving to such a country to live in a family’s home is a big step, and she will be far from her own family, so ask openly and leave room for honest answers.
Which languages do you speak, and how comfortable are you in English, Spanish and French?
Which language would you use with the children and which with the adults in the house?
Would you be willing to learn some French or Luxembourgish for daily life, such as shopping or school contacts?
Have you lived or worked abroad before, and how did you adapt to a new country?
How do you plan to stay in touch with your family, and how do you feel about the distance?
How do you feel about a climate with cold, rainy winters and short days?
What would make this post a good year for you, and what would you like to ask us?
Write down your impressions during the call, and let her ask her own questions. Afterwards, share your notes with the other adults in the household before deciding.
Salary: Net and in 12 Monthly Payments
The salary is agreed net and paid in 12 monthly instalments. In Spain it is usual to talk about gross pay in 13 or 14 payments, a system that is unfamiliar in most of Europe. One net figure is clear for the family and for the worker.
The salary starts from €2,600 net per month, in 12 payments.
What Net Means
Net is what she actually receives each month, after social security contributions and taxes have been deducted. Your local payroll adviser works out the gross salary needed to reach that net figure under Luxembourg rules. That calculation depends on local law, so it should be done by someone who knows it well.
The Social Minimum Wage in Luxembourg
Luxembourg sets a social minimum wage that is adjusted to the cost-of-living index. For an unskilled worker aged 18 or over it is €2,771.33 gross per month from 1 June 2026, for a full-time job, according to the labour inspectorate (ITM). The Guichet.lu page on hiring household staff confirms that she must be paid at least the social minimum wage. Our starting salary is net, so your adviser should check that the agreed pay respects this floor. Check the current amount before you sign.
Fees for a Filipino Nanny in Luxembourg: One Month’s Net Salary
Our fees are one month’s net salary, calculated on the 12-payment basis, plus Spanish VAT, which is 21 % today. The VAT is Spanish even though the job is in Luxembourg. With the starting salary, the calculation is:
Net salary: €2,600
Spanish VAT (21 %): €546
Total fees: €3,146
The total is paid in two equal parts: €1,573 when the hiring agreement is reached and €1,573 no later than the start day. There are no registration fees.
Flights are not part of the fees. You pay for her flight to Luxembourg and, if you use the guarantee, for the replacement’s flight too. Every condition is set out in our terms and conditions, which you accept before the interviews.
Six-Month Service Guarantee with One Replacement
Outside the Community of Madrid, the guarantee lasts six months from the start, with one replacement at no extra fee. That makes two starts in total, counting the first.
If your Filipino nanny in Luxembourg leaves the post permanently, whether you end the relationship or she resigns, we select a new candidate with the same profile and do not charge fees again. Some points to keep in mind:
You must notify us by email at info@mimucama.es within fifteen days of the departure.
The guarantee requires the fees to be paid in full and the agreed conditions to be respected: pay, working hours and registration with social security.
There are no trial days. The protection is the guarantee.
If the job is later moved permanently to another place, the guarantee ends.
If the candidate does not start for reasons that are not your responsibility, we run a new selection at no extra cost.
You are the employer. You sign the written employment contract and register her with social security in Luxembourg, with the help of your local adviser. Mimucama does not handle Luxembourg paperwork and does not advise on Luxembourg law. What we do is present candidates with the right nationality and tell you clearly the salary, the fees and the guarantee before you choose.
The table summarises the main points when you hire a Filipino nanny in Luxembourg. It is orientative: rules and amounts can change, so always check the official source.
What you arrange
What it means
Official source
Arrival and registration
She must declare her arrival to the commune within 8 days and register before three months have passed.
You register her with the Centre commun de la sécurité sociale (CCSS). The simplified procedure is optional: declaration within 8 days of hiring, contributions on her actual pay and a 10% flat-rate tax that you pay.
Your adviser turns the agreed net salary into the gross salary and runs the payroll.
Your local payroll adviser
Ask your adviser to explain the declaration to the CCSS and the payroll steps. Mimucama does not take part in them.
Families in Luxembourg We Work With
You can hire a Filipino nanny in Luxembourg wherever your family lives in the country. Families in Luxembourg City, in towns such as Strassen and Bertrange, in Esch-sur-Alzette and around the Kirchberg area follow the same process. Distance is not a problem, because the interviews are by video and you send the flight tickets.
Many people in Luxembourg commute across the border, so tell us how your days are organised and we will take it into account.
Does a Filipino nanny in Luxembourg need a work permit?
No. All our candidates hold Spanish nationality, so as EU citizens they can work in Luxembourg without a work permit. She does have to declare her arrival to the commune within 8 days and register before three months.
Who signs the contract and registers her for social security?
You do, with your local adviser, because you are the employer. In Luxembourg that means registering her with the CCSS, where you may use the optional simplified procedure for household staff. Mimucama does not handle Luxembourg paperwork and does not advise on Luxembourg law.
How much does a Filipino nanny in Luxembourg earn?
We agree the salary net and in 12 monthly payments, from €2,600 net per month. Net is what she receives each month after deductions, and your adviser works out the gross salary for that net figure.
How much are your fees?
One month’s net salary plus 21 % Spanish VAT. With €2,600 net, that is €3,146, paid in two halves: the first when the hiring agreement is reached and the second no later than the start day. The search and the interviews cost nothing.
What happens if she leaves?
During the six months after the start, we select one replacement at no extra fee, provided the conditions of the guarantee are met. You pay the replacement’s flight. The details are in the terms and conditions.
Are there trial days?
No. We do not offer trial days. The protection is the six-month guarantee with one replacement.
Who pays for the flights?
You do. You send the flight tickets to the candidate, and you also pay the flight of a replacement if you use the guarantee.
Can I hire a Filipino housekeeper instead of a nanny?
Yes. The tasks are the ones you define: cleaning, ironing, cooking and, when agreed, childcare or caring for older people. A housekeeper follows the same process, the same salary basis and the same guarantee as a nanny.
